June 2K12 - A Great Start to Summer

The first month of summer is officially over and the heat is beginning to really set in, but we had quite the first month!

Lucky for us, in West Texas, the afternoons still got cool enough that Kyle and I could, and sometimes still do, sit on the back porch and enjoy the time just the two of us and the boys, aka Bear-Bear & Kato! I haven't had many pics of them lately so here they are enjoying the cool afternoons with us!

 Kato our blue heeler!

A man and his best friend, playing fetch in the back yard!

Then you have my Bear-Bear! He loves to play fetch, but he really loves to play tug-of-war and growl like he is a 100lb dog! (which you can see here below)

We really enjoying sitting on the back porch, reading, cooking on our new grill and playing with the dogs!

We've found our new "happy-hour" low-key hang out place, it's called the Roof Top bar! It's literally on top of a parking garage next to the Texas Tech campus. The view from the Roof is one you would never picture when looking across West Texas, but it's definitely a sight to see for yourself! We met our friend Hilary there one afternoon and watched a dust storm blow in. Here are a few pics from the evening! *the weather was gloomy and dusty, but you can still see across the South Plains for miles!

One of our dear friends was ordained as a priest and we were blessed to be at the ordination. Words really can't explain the feeling or emotions that were within Christ the King Catholic Church on Sat. June 23 as Fr. Joseph Palacios and Fr. Brian Wood were ordained. It was by the far the most amazing ceremony I've ever witnessed in the Catholic church, minus me coming into the church! :) Here are a few pics from the ceremony.

We love Joseph and are really excited that he will be our priest at Holy Spirit!

Also on June 23 Kyle's teaching partner Aaron married our friend Anne! So we went straight from the ordination to the wedding where Kyle was an usher. Hilary went with us and we had an awesome trip! Not to mention the water was turned off at the hotel and Hilary needed to shower so she managed to shower with a gallon and a half of water we bought from Stripes! Only with us will you find stories like these!

It's been a great start to the summer and we look forward to all the upcoming travels! Kyle and Aaron will be going to State FFA convention, with almost 20 students, in Corpus Christi, then Kyle and I will spend a week vacation in Houston and our last trip will be to Amarillo for Ag. Teachers conference!

Hope you're enjoying your summer as much as we are!

Sunshine & Summertime!
Kyle + Mary + Kato & Bear-Bear
