2 + 1 = 3

I still can't believe it's really happening, but we will become a family of 3! I had my first signs on Father's Day. Kyle and I had lunch at his dad's house and when we got home that afternoon I was so nauseous all I could do was lay on the couch! Then that next day Kyle left for leadership camp and I met our Aunt Waynette for dinner at Zio's and while waiting for her I, yet again, felt like I was going to hurl! Never have I been so nauseous in my life and not actually gotten sick. So we ate dinner and I felt better then went through a few shops and I just didn't feel the best. She made the comment that I should take a preg test, but I just replied "what if it says yes, or what if it says no" haha I wasn't sure I was ready for either answer! Well I got up Tuesday morning took a test, set it on the counter in the bathroom then got in the shower and I just started praying. I told God I didn't want to get my hopes up b/c I just knew it was going to be negative, but I was ready for whatever He had planned. So I got out of the shower and there it was 2 pink lines, but the one was very faint. I just wasn't sure, where we or where we not? So I started getting ready and about every 5 mins I'd look down and wonder, hummm maybe, maybe not? Then I went to work and started talking to my coworker Holly, who is always my running buddy and told her the story and she has a 4 yr old and 10 month old twins and said "you're pregnant!" But I just couldn't believe it, the line wasn't bright, but faint. We decided I should take another one so I went down the street to CVS and bought another test, took it at work and yep it was again positive! I called the doctor and was told I could come in Wed. morning for blood work, which would work out perfect because Kyle would be home Wed. afternoon and the blood work would confirm before I told him our news! However, little did I know the doctor was out of the office Wed and we wouldn't get our results till Thurs! So to be sure I took a third and final test Wed. afternoon before I told Kyle and you guessed it again had two lines!! We were pregnant!

I couldn't just come out and tell him in passing, hey we're having a baby so I came up with a plan... I was going to cook spaghetti for dinner and have him help! So we were in the kitchen talking about what we were going to eat and I told him I needed him to get the spaghetti sauce out of the pantry and when he opened the pantry this is what he found...

He looked at the jar then looked at me, then back in the pantry and said we are.... and I waited and waited and finally I said Kyle Pate read the label.. Still didn't get it so finally I shouted Prego!! Then he said we are prego... pregnant?? haha it was priceless and I really wanted to get a picture of his reaction, but I was so involved in trying to help him figure it out!! He asked how I knew and I told him the story about the three tests and how we were waiting for the blood results!

Because I was so early when we figured it out my HCG (prego hormone) was only at 50 and it's suppose to double every 24-48 hours so I went back Friday and my HCG went up to 195 and then again the following Monday and it was at 998, we are definitely pregnant! We are going on six weeks and have our first ultrasound on July 16!

We told most of Kyle's family and our close friends and I really wanted to wait till we went to Houston to tell my family, which we'll be going there July 19, but Kyle was so anxious he didn't want me to wait. So I had a friend of ours take a picture of us at the wedding we were at and this is what my family got in the mail....

If you can't read it it says: Photo paper $0.50, postage $0.45, envelope $0.05, the look on your face when you realize there are three of us in this picture...PRICELESS. Baby P expected March 2013!

When most everyone finds out their first question is "how are you feeling?" Well I had two weeks of afternoon nausea, but this past week I've been more exhausted then sick. I feel like all I do is sleep! Most afternoons you'll find me taking a 2, sometimes 3, sometimes 4 hour nap then I'll still sleep all night! However, this has not been a good morning. I'm not feeling well at all, plus I'm having super bad allergies so it's double whammy! So my day consists of work, working out, sleeping, eating and sleeping some more!

I'm really excited, anxious, nervous and every other feeling in between. We started reading a few books and it gets to parts about what could go wrong etc and I hand it over to Kyle saying I can't read this. You like science and all the details intrigue you so you read this just so one of us has knowledge! Kyle is excited and has been great to me! He makes sure I'm drinking all my water and lets me sleep even when it's 4 hours at a time!

We have so many friends and family that don't live close enough to us that I hope our blog will make it easier for you to make this journey with us!
