We started potty training Zeke at 22 months and now 8 months later we are still struggling and it has me beyond frustrated. Within the 8 months Zeke has had 9 different teachers. :( Now don't get me wrong I understand working in a daycare is not for everyone, but seriously that's a new teacher every 3-4 weeks. We have been at the finish line with zero accidents for a few weeks and him telling us every time he needs to go to back tracking what seems like 5 miles.
When we started the potty training daycare would use a timer and they would set it every 20 mins and every time the timer would go off he would go to the bathroom and by now we are way past that point. He doesn't need a timer he will or would tell you, but every time he gets comfortable with his teacher he ends up getting a new one. Now every time a new teacher comes in they set the timer again and they say it's not for the kids it's for the teacher, but I seriously think it confuses him. He even had an accident yesterday evening, the first at the house in weeks and he was so upset he just started crying. I felt bad, but I think he feels like he can only go again when a timer goes off. :(
Anyways, I truly love his daycare and the owner is hands down one of the greatest ladies I know; however as a mother it's beyond frustrating. I have a pit in my stomach all day because I just don't know how his day is going to be and I never know who his teacher is going to be. I just feel lost. I don't know what the answer is or how to fix it. I. Just. Don't. Know. Then I wonder are we the only ones having this issue? Maybe I'm being dramatic? Or hormonal? Or maybe I'm being too much of a mom? Again, I just don't know.
Its times like this I wish I could just stay home and be with him. I know it's frustrating to him too, especially when he has 3 accidents in one day, yep that totally happened this week. I wish I had the answer, but I don't. We truly believed that by the time we brought Zoey home Zeke would be hard core potty trained, but at this point we may be back in diapers. Ok not really, but that's how it feels.
I just feel like a mom fail this week and I can't get rid of the pit in my stomach. I'm over having a new teacher every other week, but there isn't anything I can do about it. I know as frustrating it is for me, it is twice as frustrating for daycare. I just pray God will send good workers their way.
Feeling lost,
Mary
