Zeke is TWO

Zeke is two and what a crazy birthday week he had! Kyle was gone from Tues-Sunday so it was just me and Zeke around for the week and it was bit wild.

Of course Zeke has had a ton of drainage and allergies with our West Texas yo-yo weather, but last Sunday (Feb. 22) Zeke's right ear was draining like crazy so it was obvious he had an ear infection. I had drops left from his last infection so I started putting the drops in immediately and by Monday night it was no longer draining so I thought we were in the clear. However, Zeke woke up Tues. night screaming about his ear and wanting to put his drops in it, we ended sleeping in the recliner. He went to school Wed. and then Wed night he ran a low grade fever, complained about his ears and had constant thick nasty drainage, again we slept in the recliner until I moved us into my room. We woke up Thursday, his birthday, and I called the doc right away. We went in and his right ear was so infected she couldn't see anything and he had a sinus infection. The left ear looked ok, was a little red, but the tube is out. Zeke had a reaction to amoxycillin the last time we gave it to him, so it's kind of like a trial and error with medicines to see if they will work. Amoxycillin was the best and he had it a ton of times before he ever had the reaction and it worked like a charm, but we can longer use it. Here he is reading and waiting on the doctor.

Not only did we start the morning at the doctor, but the winter weather was in full force and the roads were snowy/icy. I got Zeke to daycare, ran to get his medicine and then made it to work. We had plans to have a dinner celebration with Grandma Wimmer, Chris, Waynette, Sharon and Russ. However, because the roads were freezing over we decided it'd be safer for everyone to stay home. So Zeke and I celebrated together. Of course we had his favorite meal, spaghetti, and a cake! We face timed Kyle so he could help me sing happy birthday.

We really do give the kid a fork, but apparently he doesn't get enough with each bite so he prefers to eat it by the handfuls. :(

We still have 95% of the cake left, I'm going to be bringing it to work! I need it out of our fridge, plus we're going to have another cake for his birthday party this coming weekend. It wasn't how I planned the day to go, but it worked out great! I also had plans to blow up balloons and run streamers down his doorway, but the ear infection trumped those plans.

Friday we woke up and school/work had be cancelled for the day because of all the snow and ice. After Zeke's nap I decided to put him in his snow suit so we could play outside. The snow was so deep in front of our house Zeke could barely walk. It was also only 14 degrees and felt like 0 so we only lasted about 15 minutes, but it was still fun to get out and play! His favorite part was eating the snow!

Between the weather and the sickness it was a crazy week! Because he was sick we had to move his 2 year check-up for a few weeks so I'm not completely sure about his stats, but unofficially he is 37" tall and weighs 31 lbs. His bottom molars are in and his top molars are coming in. Kyle got home last night and we were talking and I was telling Kyle that Zeke def. acted like a 2 yr old all weekend, but then he can be so so sweet. A friend posted this on Facebook a few weeks ago and it is 500% the TRUTH!

He is in this thing of throwing his toys again, big and small it doesn't matter. He took me out with a remote control car control, smacked me in the face and made my cheek swell up. It was bad and let's just say he got in big trouble. He also likes to point his finger and say "no mama" when he doesn't want me to do something, or he'll just swat at me. It's oh so fun! But then I'll be laying on the couch and he'll run up and say "HI Momma" in the sweetest most precious high pitched voice, or he'll run out of the room then run back in and yell "peek-a-boo," again in the most precious/sweetest voice. He can seriously melt my heart. I told Kyle I wish I could bottle up his voice and those sweet sayings so I could open them up and listen whenever I wanted!

His current obsessions are still the shop, I highly doubt this ever changes, he also screams to vacuum whenever there is a "mess" on the carpet, he throws the biggest fit to take out the trash and to wash the dishes. I'm pretty sure that as he gets older I'm going to have to remind him of how much he wanted to do the dishes and take out the trash.

He also has an obsession with my curling iron, luckily Waynette had an old one so we traded it for mine. He calls it his cord and he'll say "curl momma hair?" "curl zeke hair?" Kyle isn't the biggest fan, but I told him that if Zeke ever really learns to use it his future wife would probably appreciate it. :) I'd be ok if Kyle wanted to curl my hair and I didn't have to, haha keep dreaming! The funny thing is he knows it needs to be plugged in to work, so he will "plug" it into his tool bench/workstation and then use it for various things. It's really funny how attached he is, it is pretty much with him at all times when we are in the house.

I'm really looking forward to, maybe even dreading the next year, but it really is fun to watch him continue to grow and learn. He woke up Saturday from his nap and started singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, I have no idea how he knows it, maybe daycare or maybe from the million times I've sung it at night, but it's the greatest thing ever! It's like a never ending song and he'll go on for an hour non stop. Hope you enjoy the video I caught! Please forgive his bad manners of eating and singing at the same time!

Here are his "official" two-year pictures, our sweet little boy is seriously growing up.

He is our sweet, stubborn, loving, curious, outgoing, wild Zeke and we wouldn't change a thing about him.

Here's to the next year!
