We're really enjoying the stage Zeke is in now, but I really miss the days that were full of cuddles and snuggles with my baby. Infant (baby) stage seems to take forever to get through when they are there, but once they are out of it it feels like there wasn't enough time. Zeke's personality is really beginning to show. He truly is a charmer, he really got the whole "Pate Charm" (that's what Kyle calls it) from his dad! He doesn't know a stranger and will smile at everyone that walks by. He has turned into a wiggle worm, we can barely keep him in our arms these days because he won't stop trying to grab onto something or go somewhere. He rolls every which way and is so close to crawling it is unbelievable. He gets on all fours, but then his head stays on the ground so he just rubs his head on the floor while he uses his legs to push forward and once he picks his head up his butt goes down. It's probably one of the greatest things to see. :) He laughs and talks and babbles and every day we work with him to just spit out mama or dadda, maybe one day. I'm apparently a little late on this post as we are half way to 7 months, but we took Zeke to the doctor yesterday and in 2 short weeks he has gained right at a pound and grown 1/2." It's crazy how fast he is growing!
As all know the allergens around Lubbock are extremely high and everyone of all ages is fighting allergies. We are giving Zeke Allerga (works better than Clariton for him) in the morning and benadryl at night, but it didn't seem to be doing anything so I called the doc yesterday morning to just ask what signs I should look for to know a) if it turns into a sinus infection or b) it moves to a respiratory thing. So we talked and then she asked if it has been going on for more than 5-7 days and I was like yeah, more like a few weeks and his cough seems to be getting worse. He went to the doc and out of my surprise he has a double ear infection. I wasn't even thinking about his ears (as you can see above) I was think sinus, respiratory, but ears really?!? He hasn't pulled on them, he still sleeps from 8pm-6:45am, the only thing that has kind slightly changed is he wasn't eating as much as he had been and he seemed like he wanted more naps, but no fussiness, no lack of sleep, no grabbing his ears, nothing, no sign. I almost felt like mom fail when we heard that, how could I not know he had a double ear infection. Poor guy, however; they did give us some good meds that he takes for the next 10 days and then we go back in 2 weeks for another check up. I know Kyle had tubes in his ears when he was little so we shall see if Zeke follows in those footsteps.
I have frequently been asked how daycare is going and we are loving it! Zeke is excelling and doing so well, he is happy when I drop him off and happy when I get to him. He loves Ms. Loretta and Ms. Mary Jane! He is on the most amazing schedule, so well that he is within 5 min of eating and napping at the same time every day. Some days are harder than others for me when I drop him off, but I can't say enough good things about my job. I LOVE my job and my office. My coworkers have become some of my closest friends and I wouldn't trade them for the world. We work out together, we eat lunch together, we laugh, we cry and we have become a family. With that coming to work is a blessing and knowing that Zeke is in amazing hands makes each day easier and easier when leaving him. Don't get me wrong I am super excited for 4 pm every day and I'm usually out the door by 4:01, but daycare is good and we are doing well with it!
Another question I have been asked lately is how much weight I have lost since having Zeke. I have received lots of compliments about how good I look and how much weight I've lost and I truly appreciate all the sweet comments, but I have been working really hard at it. Since leaving the hospital with Zeke I have lost 43 pounds. Yes, I weigh a little less than when we got prego with him, but it has been hard work. One day I'll probably post an entire blog about it, but in short I follow weight watchers, I teach spin 4 times a week and I'm training for a marathon or I should say I was training. I pulled a muscle in my inner thigh so I'm not suppose to run for 3 weeks, so I'm substituting running with swimming laps and still teaching spin. However, I have full intentions of running and completing the Houston Marathon on Jan. 19! I just have to get through this pulled muscle thing.
So now onto the fun stuff, if you're on Facebook you've probably seen some of these pics, but I hope you enjoy our little blessing!
