As most know we took our first-ever family vacation, it was 8 days and our ultimate goal was going Lubbock to Corpus Christi. We decided with a 5 month old it would be easiest to split the long drives. In all we went from Lubbock to Dallas and stayed the night then got up and drove to Houston. We stayed in Houston for a weekend and were able to see my memaw, papaw, Kasey (Kyle's sister), Natashia (one of my best friends) and her mom and of course the best part was spending time with my parents! The weekend came and went and we then went from Houston to Corpus spent the week in Corpus left Corpus and stopped in Fredicksburg for the night before finally returning to Lubbock. Overall we had a great trip, but man it's hard work trying to vacation with a 5 month old. I really feel like it wasn't even a vacation. Zeke is normally a good sleeper (8 pm-6 am), but not on vacation. I'm not sure if the pack-n-play wasn't as comfortable as his crib or if he just knew he wasn't home. So the first night alone we woke up 5 times before I finally just put him in bed with us. We have never been co-sleepers, but I decided for our sanity we would all just share a bed. That seemed to continue throughout vacation, but luckily he started to sleep till about 2 am before waking and crawling into bed with us. It was miserable. I get that there are babies out there who are 5 months and still get up 1-2 times a night, but Zeke doesn't and hasn't since he was 6 weeks (yes we know we are spoiled and blessed), but getting up several times a night nearly killed us! Not only was he not sleeping, but he was/is teething and for the first time ever we were fighting constipation. Kyle even did laundry for us in the hotel b/c he went through so many bibs and burp cloths! With all the trials and exhausting moments we also had some amazing moments! Zeke and I went to the pool, the beach and we had lots and lots of snuggle time! We were in Corpus for Ag. Teachers Conference so Kyle was busy all day so it was fun to spend all day with Zeke, we hadn't done that since I was on maternity leave. As much as I loved spending time with him I was def. ready to get back home and back to work. I was really worried that when we got back home he would continue to wake up through the night, but thankfully he went right back to sleeping 8-6. So with enough about vacation, not really vacation, here are his 5 months pics and pics from our trip!

Each month Zeke seems to go through something new: newborn that explains itself. 2 months started daycare. 3 months we started spitting, when we never spit before. 4 months started rolling over and we can't keep him contained anywhere. 5 months seem to have brought the trials and tribulations: teething, constipation and our first ear infection. Can't wait to see what the next 7 months hold for us!
