Insanely Insane

There are not many things that I truly enjoy doing other than singing, being crafty and working out. I sing in the car, around the house, while sitting at my desk and of course my fave... at church. My favorite gifts of all are those that I make - I could paint, glue, stick, paste, cut, glitter and bling all day!! These two come naturally to me and bring me joy, happiness and pure bliss.

Now working out on the other hand isn't as "natural." I was never big in athletics growing up, yes I played softball and loved it, but once in high school I was too busy with choir, FFA, 4-H and other random things so running, working out, was never a thought. Once I moved to college I found that running or going to the gym was a good way to clear my mind and allow me to have some "alone" time with no other worries in the world. I found how much I enjoyed going to the gym. My passion is running and I might not be the fastest or the smallest, but I enjoy ever step. Since picking up this new found hobby I have completed a 1/2 marathon and a sprint Triathlon, but for some reason I have felt burnt out lately. Swimming, running, biking all things I love, but with no workout buddy and not training for a particular race I just felt burned out and tired of the same thing. Soooo.... some friends of ours started the "Insanity" program and yes the name fits. After talking to Kyle we thought this woud be something we could do together and it would give me a chance to do something different. Well Kyle hasn't really partaked in any cardio activity since high school, so he made it through 2 workouts and now it's just me being insane. Feel free to watch this small clip of what "Insanity" means: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLK28BHJDd8

Now I didn't take on this 60 day challenge to have a "new body transformation" I decided I wanted something I thought Kyle would do with me and something that would be different from the norm. I have to say I am thankful for all the visits to the gym prior to starting this program as just the warm-up has me pouring sweat and huffing and puffing and I think to myself why is this so insanely insane and why am I insane for doing this. But in 1 short week I have lost 3 lbs, am more flexible and with every day I take fewer and fewer breaks. Shaun T was just what I needed to get out of my "rut" and feeling of "burnt out." So for the next 7 weeks our living room will transform into my gym and Shaun T and I will continue with our love/hate relationship.
