Let's start with the bad. Zeke had a staph infection in June and then this week we thought he had chicken pox. Yes, I said think because the doctor doesn't really know. We got back from vacation last Thursday night and when Zeke woke up Friday morning he had spots all over his face, arm and leg. He went to the doctor and she said it was chicken pox and it did look exactly like chicken pox, but as the days went by the spots never changed other than lose their redness and start to go away. I took him back to the doctor this morning and she said she's not really sure what it was, it could be chicken pox but if it was it was a wild strain. Seriously?!? A wild strain? The only good news is we aren't quarantined anymore; Woo hoo we are out of house arrest! Now I'm hoping we can make it through August without any crazy bacteria or skin issue! But on a very good note his ears have been excellent! I probably shouldn't say these are necessarily bad, but they haven't exactly been fun summer happenings. As I told Kyle it's a blessing and a curse...we never know when the kid is sick. He is always the same, eats good, sleeps great, plays like a wild banshee etc. I love that he is so great, but it'd be nice to know when/if he is seriously sick, maybe one day he'll tell us!
On the good side of things Zeke and I have loved summer! We've made several trips to the pool and we got him a small pool for the house so he spends hours upon hours in it. He LOVES to be outside. He would rather be eating bugs and playing in the dirt than doing anything. He loves to play with the water hose and his favorite thing to do is drink out of it and then share with me and Kyle, we all take turns taking a drink! People ask what his favorite tv show is, but he doesn't watch TV. We'll turn on Mickey Mouse Club and other kid shows, but he is too busy going and blowing to stop and watch. I think I've seen him sit and watch for maybe 2 minutes. The only time I can get the kid to sit still is when he is sleeping, well that and we can get him to almost sit still for the hour we go to mass. You always hear the saying "better get ready to lace up your sneakers" and I think that is the most true statement anyone has ever said. Since he started walking he has yet to stop. We play chase and hide and seek and chase the dogs and go and go and go and go. It has been fun, but every day is something new and non stop.
The best part of our summer has been the vacation we took over the 4th of July! We spent several days with my dad's family at the beach house in Sargent. Zeke had a blast playing with his cousins and we had a great time relaxing and hanging with family. It was awesome to have so many eyes and hands to watch Zeke and play with him. I spent many hours fishing and relaxing on the pier! Zeke went on his first boat ride, he fed the seagulls, and slept right through all the fireworks. He was a great little beach boy and I think he enjoyed the beach house as much as we did! From the beach house we finished off our vacation in Houston. I seriously love going to Houston, but it doesn't matter that amount of days we stay we always need one/two/three more. We were in Houston for three days and in those three days we saw memaw Bozarth, Papaw Willeford and Lillie, Natashia, Beth, Kasey and David, and Dwight. It was a crazy three days, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I am thankful that my best friend from Kindergarten will drive 4 hours so we can spend some time together. Grant it she is Zeke's Godmother and I think she really only comes to see him (j/k) plus she gets to spend time with her parents, but none the less I love that I get to spend time with her. Mom and Dad are awesome and on our past two trips to Houston they take over Zeke duty and allow Kyle and I to go out for an evening/night. We went and spent the evening with Kasey and David and our friends Dwight and Natashia came to hang out. It was nice to be with family and good friends on our date night, I truly wouldn't want it any other way. While we were home Zeke also got to ride on Papa Joe's 4-wheeler and he loved it! I don't know what it is about boys and their toys, but it obviously starts way too young. :) We really had an awesome vacation! Zeke was great and slept for nearly 12 hours every night and napped well and ate like a horse and was just overall great! It was a much better vacation than our vacation last year.... http://www.maryandkylepate.blogspot.com/2013/08/vacation-with-5-month-old.html
Now you can enjoy an overload of pictures from our trip.
Here's to summer lovin',
